After graduating from high school, I pursued a degree in Fine Arts at Colorado State University. It was during my time mentoring at-risk students that I discovered my true passion for teaching. I went on to earn a Master's in Special Education from Regis University, and later, driven by a desire to better support students with special needs, I completed my Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Denver.
With over two decades of experience, I’ve been an educator, advocate, and leader dedicated to creating equitable, inclusive learning environments for all children. My work spans from classroom teaching to district-level administration, and university professor. I have the privilege of mentoring both new and seasoned educators, guiding them as they navigate their professional paths, pursue advanced degrees, or step into leadership roles. My approach is rooted in aligning decisions with values, strengths, and passions—principles that have been the foundation of my coaching and mentoring philosophy.
Whether through shaping educational policy, leading schools, or inspiring future educators in university classrooms, my mission has always been clear: to ensure that every student has access to the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. I am a firm believer in the transformative power of culturally responsive teaching, and I take great pride in infusing my work with the richness of my multicultural experiences. As a bilingual professional, fluent in Tigrinya and continuing to develop my Spanish, I strive to foster educational environments where diversity is celebrated, and every learner is empowered to reach their full potential.
